Houston Golf Courses & Tee Times
Houston golf starts at Memorial Park. It began in 1912 as nine sand-green holes for soldiers at Camp Logan, and John Bredemus rebuilt it as an 18 that opened in July 1936. It held the Houston Open from 1951 to 1963, and the Tour came back in 2020 after Tom Doak rebuilt it with Brooks Koepka as player consultant, cutting the bunkers from more than 60 to under two dozen. In 2026 the LPGA's Chevron moved in too, and Nelly Korda won it. That means a city muni now hosts a men's Tour event and a women's major, and it still plays around 60,000 rounds a year.
Good weekend tee times in Houston go fast, and the ones that come back later (cancellations, groups that shrink) aren't announced. Yoink watches the tee sheets at 53 public courses here, from Spring, Humble, Missouri City, Cypress and Montgomery, and tells you the moment a time you want opens up.
The longest layout here is Golf Club of Houston at 7,422 yards; there are 4 nine-hole courses.
Who runs public golf in Houston
The City of Houston has five courses. Parks and Recreation runs Memorial Park and Sharpstown itself; private operators run Hermann Park, Gus Wortham Park and Melrose Park for the city. The Houston Golf Association runs Gus Wortham under a public/private deal with the city. Residents get a big break, but only with a Resident Pass: you verify through ID.me in the booking system, then buy an Adult (19 to 64) or Senior (65 and up) pass, and junior passes are sold in the pro shop. At Memorial Park that takes a weekday round from $120 to $30 and a weekend round from $140 to $38. Weekday rates run Monday to Thursday; Friday counts as the weekend. Sharpstown, par 70 at 6,660 yards, is $18 on weekdays and $26 on weekends. Melrose is an 18-hole par 3. F.M. Law Park is run by First Tee of Greater Houston on city land.

Booking tee times in Houston: the local rules
Memorial Park and Sharpstown book online through the city's system (houstonmunigolf.com now forwards to memorialparkgolf.com); make an account first, and residents should verify through ID.me before buying a Resident Pass. At Memorial, a time booked 4 to 14 days out carries a $20 per person reservation fee that you lose unless you cancel by phone at least 4 days ahead. Gus Wortham opens times to everyone 8 to 10 days ahead at midnight for a $20 per player priority fee, and charges 30% if you no-show without 24 hours' notice. For Hermann Park and Melrose, the city says to call the pro shop.

Why tee times in Houston are hard to get
Spring and fall are peak season in Houston. In summer the heat pushes everyone toward early morning, so the first few hours of the day fill before anything else.
Most public courses open their tee sheet a set number of days ahead, often 7 to 14, and many municipal courses give residents or card holders an earlier window. The best weekend-morning times usually go the day they're released. Leagues and outings take blocks of the sheet before the public ever sees them.
When tee time cancellations happen
Booked-up doesn't mean gone. Plans change: groups cancel ahead of the course's cancellation deadline (often 24 to 48 hours out), players drop when the forecast turns, and a group that shrinks leaves an open spot. Those times quietly come back on the booking page, usually for minutes, not hours.

Yoink
Every course in Houston on one watchlist: all 53 of them
Yoink checks all 53 courses in Houston every few minutes, so every open time is in one place and you're the first to know when one that fits your day, window and group appears, cancellations included.
Doing it by hand? Here's what works.
- Know the booking window. Find out how many days ahead each course releases times, and whether residents get an earlier window. Be ready the morning it opens.
- Look again 24 to 48 hours out. That's when most cancellation deadlines pass and spots come back.
- Be flexible on group size. Singles and twosomes fit into gaps a foursome can't.
- Try twilight and weekday afternoons. They're the last to fill and often cheaper.
- Keep a quicker course in your back pocket. Nine-hole and executive courses are easier to get on and play faster. Around here that includes Eagle Lake Golf Course & Recreation Center, F.M. Law Park (First Tee Houston) and Liberty Golf Course.

Tee times in Houston: questions
How do I get notified when a tee time opens up in Houston?
Set a watch in Yoink for the courses you want, the days you can play, a time window and the number of players. Yoink checks those tee sheets every few minutes and sends a notification as soon as a matching time appears, cancellations included. You book it directly with the course.
When do tee time cancellations usually show up?
Mostly in the 24 to 48 hours before the tee time, as golfers cancel ahead of the course's cancellation deadline, and whenever the weather forecast changes. They appear without notice and tend to be rebooked quickly.
How far in advance can you book a tee time in Houston?
It depends on the course. Many public courses open bookings 7 to 14 days ahead, and town or county courses often give residents an earlier window. Each course's own booking page has its policy.
When is golf busiest in Houston?
Demand is highest in spring and fall, and early in the morning in summer. Weekend mornings are always the hardest tee times to get.
Which courses in Houston are quickest to play?
Nine-hole and executive courses such as Eagle Lake Golf Course & Recreation Center, F.M. Law Park (First Tee Houston) and Liberty Golf Course take less time and are usually easier to book.
Does Yoink book the tee time for me?
No. Yoink tells you when a time opens; you book it with the course on its own booking page, at the course's price, with no extra fee.
