About Lake Success Golf Club
The club says it was founded in 1928 on a design by Charles Blair Macdonald and Seth Raynor, the pair behind The Creek Club, Piping Rock and Mid Ocean, and until 1956 it was the original home of the Deepdale Club. The story of how it survived is on the club's history page. When Deepdale's 160 acres were reportedly sold for $2,050,000 and headed for housing, Lake Success voters authorized the village, 349 to 232, to take 116 acres by condemnation. It reopened as the Lake Success Village Golf Course, with Jack Fort, uncle of the then-reigning PGA champion, as its first pro. Over the past 20 years the club has put more than $20 million into a new clubhouse, pro shop, drainage and irrigation.
Today it's the Village Club of Lake Success, a private club with five sets of tees (the Black tees rate 71.1 with a 132 slope), plus a fitness center, grill room, tennis and pool.
