About Christopher Morley Park Golf Course

Christopher Morley is the county's North Shore nine: a par 30 of 1,603 yards, small but hilly, in a tree-lined park just north of the Long Island Expressway. Most holes are short par 3s, but the 7th stretches to 300 yards and the 8th is a 97-yard flick, so you'll use most of the bag.

The ground has golf in its past. The county paid $704,000 for the former estate of Nettie Ryan, which included the Links Golf Club, and the park joined the county system in 1961. It's named for Christopher Morley, the writer who helped found the Book of the Month Club, and his Knothole sits in the park with a one-piece "dymaxion" bathroom that his friend Buckminster Fuller designed in 1936.

It's one of 46 courses Yoink watches in the Long Island area, and the closest alternative is Lake Success Golf Club, about 3 miles away — handy when your first choice is booked solid.
