Seaview Golf Club - Bay Course

About Seaview Golf Club - Bay Course

The Bay is the shorter of Seaview's two courses, about 6,300 yards in Galloway, and the club itself calls it less a test of length than of imagination, accuracy and short game. The look is Scottish links: deep pot bunkers, small undulating greens and seaside views. The targets are small, so your wedges and putter matter more than your driver. From the blue tees it rates 69.8 with a 125 slope.

Clarence C. Geist, a utility magnate from Indiana, founded Seaview Golf Club in 1914 as a members-only club, and Hugh Wilson and Donald Ross built the Bay that year. Nine of its holes were part of the 1942 PGA Championship, the week Sam Snead chipped in from 60 feet on the Pines course's 16th to win his first major.

The Bay is the course the LPGA knows. The ShopRite LPGA Classic, which started in 1986 and plays for three days each May, is held here. For the event's 2014 run, which fell in Seaview's centennial year, the tees were rebuilt, four new ones went in and about 150 yards were added. The property has changed hands several times: Marriott bought it in 1984, Stockton University in 2010, and KDG Capital in 2018. Today Seaview covers 670 acres with a 296-room hotel next to the two courses.

It's one of 30 courses Yoink watches in the South Jersey & the Shore area, and Seaview Golf Club - Pines Course is practically next door — handy when your first choice is booked solid.
