About Desert Willow Golf Course

Desert Willow is an executive course: 3,811 yards, par 60, with 12 par 3s and six par 4s. Billy Casper and Greg Nash carved it out of the foothills of Black Mountain, and the ground is the defense, with hilly lies, plenty of sand, undulating greens and water on three holes. The course asks groups to finish 18 in three hours.

It's owned and run by the residents of the Sun City MacDonald Ranch community, but it sells public green fees. It won Vegas Golfer Magazine's best executive course in Las Vegas every year from 2005 to 2008 and made Golf Range Magazine's top 10 executive courses in America each year from 2006 to 2010. It was also one of the first Nevada courses to put in junior tees.

The practice area is big for an executive course: a range with five mounded targets (mats Monday to Thursday, grass Friday to Sunday), a short-game area for shots inside 75 yards and a 9,500-square-foot putting green. The Willows Restaurant is on site.
