Bali Hai Golf Club

The last 18 on the Strip, next to Mandalay Bay: palms, white sand, black lava rock, and an island-green 16th played in front of the restaurant patio.

About Bali Hai Golf Club

Bali Hai is the only championship course left on the Las Vegas Strip, sitting next to Mandalay Bay and the Las Vegas sign. Lee Schmidt and Brian Curley built it as a tropical oasis in 2000: about 4,000 trees, 2,500 of them palms, 100,000 tropical plants, seven acres of water, white sand and black volcanic rock. Walters Golf owns and runs it.

It's a par 71 at 7,002 yards from the back, and it isn't a pushover. The 3rd, called Shipwreck, is a 468-yard par 4 with a creek down the whole right side and a bunker left. The one everyone remembers is the 16th, a par-3 island green with diners on the Cili Restaurant patio watching you hit. The map survey counts water near 12 holes and more than 60 bunkers. It's built for visitors. You can rent current Callaway clubs and shoes, take a forecaddie, and finish at the Tiki Bar.

It's one of 35 courses Yoink watches in the Las Vegas area, and the closest alternative is Las Vegas National Golf Club, about 4 miles away — handy when your first choice is booked solid.
