Nevada Golf Courses & Tee Times

Nevada golf splits north and south: mountain courses around Reno and Lake Tahoe, where Incline Village's courses typically run mid-May to mid-October, and desert courses around Las Vegas. The two regional associations are old: Southern Nevada's dates to 1967, Northern Nevada's to 1972. On January 1, 2026 they came together as Nevada Golf, now the USGA's allied association for the state. The Nevada State Amateur goes back to 1953, the same year the PGA Tour's Tournament of Champions was first played at the Desert Inn in Las Vegas. Nevada Golf counts more than 100 courses in the state.

Who runs public golf in Nevada

Public golf in Nevada comes from counties, cities, local districts, tribes and daily-fee owners. Washoe County runs Washoe Golf in Reno, the city's oldest course, and Sierra Sage in Stead. At Lake Tahoe, the Incline Village General Improvement District runs two courses, with lower rates for residents holding an IVGID Picture Pass. The City of Las Vegas owns the Las Vegas Golf Club, its first muni from 1949, and Angel Park, and has third parties run both. The Las Vegas Paiute Tribe owns three Pete Dye courses outside town. Nevada Golf runs the state championships, including the State Amateur, Mid-Amateur, Match Play, Senior and Junior Amateurs. For kids, Youth on Course costs $60 a year and gets juniors $5 walking green fees at participating courses, with a Nevada Golf handicap.

Getting a tee time in Nevada

The season in Nevada runs roughly from spring to late fall. The first warm weekends in spring and the cool, dry weekends of fall are the hardest to book.

Each course releases its tee times on its own schedule, commonly a week or two out, with residents of town and county courses often booking first. Leagues, outings and members claim chunks of the sheet in advance, and whatever prime weekend times are left tend to go on release day.

A full tee sheet rarely stays full. Many courses let you cancel without a fee up to 24 or 48 hours before your time, so spots tend to reappear in the last couple of days. A bad forecast shakes more loose, and a foursome that drops to three opens a single. None of it is announced. The time just shows up again on the booking page, and whoever looks first gets it.
