Atlanta Golf Courses & Tee Times
Atlanta's public golf story starts with Bobby Jones, born in the city's Grant Park neighborhood in 1902. The city built a course in his name in Atlanta Memorial Park in the early 1930s. In 1951 Alfred "Tup" Holmes and his family were turned away there. Their suit, Holmes v. City of Atlanta, reached the U.S. Supreme Court, which ruled on November 7, 1955 that the city's public courses had to be desegregated. That Christmas the Holmes group teed off at North Fulton, now Chastain Park. Before then, Lincoln Country Club was the only course in town open to Black golfers.

Who runs public golf in Atlanta
City of Atlanta Golf runs four courses: Chastain Park and Browns Mill at 18 holes, Tup Holmes in Southwest Atlanta, and Candler Park, a nine-holer Asa Candler gave the city in 1927. City residents pay less at Chastain, Browns Mill and Candler Park; in 2026 it's $23.50 against $28 for 18 on a weekday, and $9 against $11 for nine at Candler. Seniors 55 and up get weekday 18 for $9.40 as residents. Bobby Jones is different: the city sold it to the State of Georgia in 2016, and a privately funded $33 million project turned it into a nine-hole reversible course. It's also home to the Georgia State Golf Association's offices and the Georgia Golf Hall of Fame. Georgia State Parks runs The Creek at Hard Labor Creek State Park, east of the city near Social Circle.

Why tee times in Atlanta are hard to get
In Atlanta, the busiest months are spring and fall. In summer, everyone wants to finish before the heat, so early tee times go first.
Each course releases its tee times on its own schedule, commonly a week or two out, with residents of town and county courses often booking first. Leagues, outings and members claim chunks of the sheet in advance, and whatever prime weekend times are left tend to go on release day.
When tee time cancellations happen
A full tee sheet rarely stays full. Many courses let you cancel without a fee up to 24 or 48 hours before your time, so spots tend to reappear in the last couple of days. A bad forecast shakes more loose, and a foursome that drops to three opens a single. None of it is announced. The time just shows up again on the booking page, and whoever looks first gets it.

Yoink watches all 82 courses in Atlanta for you. The open tee times sit in one place instead of a dozen booking pages, and your phone buzzes the moment one fits your day, time window and group, cancellations included.
Doing it by hand? Here's what works.
- Know the booking window. Find out how many days ahead each course releases times, and whether residents get an earlier window. Be ready the morning it opens.
- Look again 24 to 48 hours out. That's when most cancellation deadlines pass and spots come back.
- Be flexible on group size. Singles and twosomes fit into gaps a foursome can't.
- Try twilight and weekday afternoons. They're the last to fill and often cheaper.
- Keep a quicker course in your back pocket. Nine-hole and executive courses are easier to get on and play faster. Around here that includes Bobby Jones Golf Course, Candler Park Golf Course and Charlie Yates Golf Course.
