Augusta Golf Courses & Tee Times

Augusta is the Masters, but the city's own golf story runs through The Patch. Augusta Municipal opened on December 20, 1928, as nine holes with sand greens, designed by David Ogilvie. It went to 18 holes the next year. The course was officially integrated in May 1964, and the entrance road was renamed Jim Dent Way in 2020. Across town, Forest Hills is a 1926 Donald Ross course owned by Augusta University. Bobby Jones started his 1930 Grand Slam by winning the Southeastern Open, played partly there. Augusta National itself is private. Jones and Clifford Roberts founded it, and it has hosted the Masters since 1934.

Good weekend tee times in Augusta go fast, and the ones that come back later (cancellations, groups that shrink) aren't announced. Yoink watches the tee sheets at 11 public courses here, from Reidsville, Fort Gordon, Swainsboro and Metter, and tells you the moment a time you want opens up.

The longest layout here is Forest Hills Golf Club at 7,231 yards.

Who runs public golf in Augusta

The Patch is the city course again, rebuilt and back open. In 2023 Augusta National chairman Fred Ridley announced a partnership with the course, First Tee of Augusta and Augusta Technical College, and the club and city agreed to a 50-year lease. Tom Fazio and Beau Welling redesigned the 18 holes. Tiger Woods and TGR Design added The Loop, a nine-hole short course. It reopened on April 15, 2026, and Bobby Jones Links runs it. Local rates need a government ID with a permanent address in Richmond, Columbia, McDuffie, Jefferson or Burke County in Georgia, or Edgefield or Aiken County in South Carolina. Active-duty military qualify too. In 2026 that means $25 to walk 18 Monday through Thursday and $35 Friday through Sunday. Non-locals pay $85 and $95. Farther out, Georgia State Parks runs Arrowhead Pointe on Lake Richard B. Russell and Brazell's Creek at Jack Hill State Park.

Booking tee times in Augusta: the local rules

Tee times at The Patch were phased in after the April 2026 reopening, with full capacity planned for the summer. Bring an ID every time to get the local rate. From September 14 to October 12, 2026, cart path and tree work may turn weekday rounds into the same nine played twice. At Arrowhead Pointe there's no walking and no nine-hole play on Friday through Sunday and holidays until after 1 p.m. The state's Greens Pass isn't valid there during Masters Week.

Why tee times in Augusta are hard to get

Spring and fall are peak season in Augusta. In summer the heat pushes everyone toward early morning, so the first few hours of the day fill before anything else.

Each course releases its tee times on its own schedule, commonly a week or two out, with residents of town and county courses often booking first. Leagues, outings and members claim chunks of the sheet in advance, and whatever prime weekend times are left tend to go on release day.

When tee time cancellations happen

Booked-up doesn't mean gone. Plans change: groups cancel ahead of the course's cancellation deadline (often 24 to 48 hours out), players drop when the forecast turns, and a group that shrinks leaves an open spot. Those times quietly come back on the booking page, usually for minutes, not hours.

Doing it by hand? Here's what works.

  1. Know the booking window. Find out how many days ahead each course releases times, and whether residents get an earlier window. Be ready the morning it opens.
  2. Look again 24 to 48 hours out. That's when most cancellation deadlines pass and spots come back.
  3. Be flexible on group size. Singles and twosomes fit into gaps a foursome can't.
  4. Try twilight and weekday afternoons. They're the last to fill and often cheaper.
  5. Widen the map. If your first choice is full, check the next town over. Reidsville has 1 courses on Yoink and Fort Gordon has 1.

How do I get notified when a tee time opens up in Augusta?

Set a watch in Yoink for the courses you want, the days you can play, a time window and the number of players. Yoink checks those tee sheets every few minutes and sends a notification as soon as a matching time appears, cancellations included. You book it directly with the course.

When do tee time cancellations usually show up?

Mostly in the 24 to 48 hours before the tee time, as golfers cancel ahead of the course's cancellation deadline, and whenever the weather forecast changes. They appear without notice and tend to be rebooked quickly.

How far in advance can you book a tee time in Augusta?

It depends on the course. Many public courses open bookings 7 to 14 days ahead, and town or county courses often give residents an earlier window. Each course's own booking page has its policy.

When is golf busiest in Augusta?

Demand is highest in spring and fall, and early in the morning in summer. Weekend mornings are always the hardest tee times to get.
