Browns Mill is one of the City of Atlanta's courses, on the south side not far from downtown and five miles from Hartsfield-Jackson. George Cobb designed it, the same architect who built the par-3 course at Augusta National.

It's a real community course. The Browns Mill Women's Golf Association was founded here in September 1996 by a group of African American women who wanted to learn the game, with help from William Lewis, then the course manager and head pro. The clubhouse has been remodeled, with a food prep station, a meeting room and a view over the course.

A creek or river runs through the property and comes into play on 8 holes. 10 of the 18 holes bend, most of them to the left, which favors a draw, so position off the tee matters more than length.

Booking a tee time at Browns Mill Golf Course

Book through the City of Atlanta Golf website; Fore Pass and annual pass holders have their own booking links. Cancel more than 24 hours ahead or you can be charged up to the rack rate for each empty spot. Tee times are non-refundable, and rain checks are at the course's discretion. Players must be at least 7, cart drivers at least 18, and carts are due back 30 minutes before sunset. The course is open sunrise to sunset, seven days a week.
