Fort Myers & Naples Golf Courses & Tee Times

The oldest golf in this corner of Florida is on McGregor Boulevard in Fort Myers. Donald Ross drew the Fort Myers Country Club in 1916, James McGovern built it, and it opened in December 1917. Thomas Edison and Henry Ford played it in the 1920s, and the city bought it in 1927 for $165,000. Down in Naples most golf sits behind gates, but the LPGA's CME Group Tour Championship has been played at Tiburón's Gold Course since 2013.

Who runs public golf in Fort Myers & Naples

The City of Fort Myers runs two 18-hole courses through its Parks and Recreation Department: Fort Myers Country Club and Eastwood, a 1977 Robert von Hagge and Bruce Devlin course on the old city well field. The city sells annual passes and raised them from September 1, 2025: up to $800 a year more for nonresidents and $200 more for city residents, per WINK News. It was not selling new memberships as of 2026. Juniors can get a low-cost year-round membership. Collier County has historically had no government-owned muni. That changes with The Gate Golf Club, a nonprofit nine-hole course by Peter Jacobsen on county land, set to open in late 2026 and home to First Tee Naples/Collier.

Why tee times in Fort Myers & Naples are hard to get

Golf in Fort Myers & Naples peaks in winter, when seasonal residents and visitors arrive. From roughly November through April, weekend mornings are the hardest times on the sheet to get, and even weekdays fill up.

Each course releases its tee times on its own schedule, commonly a week or two out, with residents of town and county courses often booking first. Leagues, outings and members claim chunks of the sheet in advance, and whatever prime weekend times are left tend to go on release day.

When tee time cancellations happen

Booked-up doesn't mean gone. Plans change: groups cancel ahead of the course's cancellation deadline (often 24 to 48 hours out), players drop when the forecast turns, and a group that shrinks leaves an open spot. Those times quietly come back on the booking page, usually for minutes, not hours.

Doing it by hand? Here's what works.

  1. Know the booking window. Find out how many days ahead each course releases times, and whether residents get an earlier window. Be ready the morning it opens.
  2. Look again 24 to 48 hours out. That's when most cancellation deadlines pass and spots come back.
  3. Be flexible on group size. Singles and twosomes fit into gaps a foursome can't.
  4. Try twilight and weekday afternoons. They're the last to fill and often cheaper.
  5. Keep a quicker course in your back pocket. Nine-hole and executive courses are easier to get on and play faster. Around here that includes Blue Heron Pines Golf Club, Bonita Fairways Golf Course and Cross Creek Golf & Country Club.
