About Sunken Meadow State Park
Sunken Meadow is 27 holes in the state park of the same name, officially Governor Alfred E. Smith/Sunken Meadow State Park, in Kings Park on the North Shore. The Red and Green nines came first in 1962 and the Blue followed in 1964. You play any two for 18, or one for a quick nine.
Alfred Tull designed all three. He also built the Yellow at Bethpage and redesigned its Blue, and he liked to route holes along the natural lay of the land. So expect a somewhat hilly, varied round through mature woods. Save a few minutes for the range: it looks out over Long Island Sound.
It's a state park round at state park prices. The course page lists $23 for 18 on weekdays and $28 on weekends, and New York State seniors and juniors pay $15 for a weekday 18. Veterans and Access Pass holders pay only the $5 reservation fee. Pull carts and riding carts are for rent, and the range runs all year.
It's one of 46 courses Yoink watches in the Long Island area, and the closest alternative is Smithtown Landing Country Club, about 3 miles away — handy when your first choice is booked solid.
