Bethpage Yellow

Alfred Tull's 1958 course, partly made from holes left over when Tillinghast's Blue was rerouted. Shortest of the five: 6,085 yards from the regular tees.

About Bethpage Yellow

Yellow is the easy way into Bethpage. Wikipedia lists the park's five courses in order of difficulty, and Yellow comes first; GOLF.com puts it with the Green as the two easiest and the best fit for a casual round. At 6,085 yards from the regular tees it's the shortest of the five, and you can take a cart. It's one of the two Bethpage courses State Parks keeps open year round, weather permitting.

It's also the newest. Demand for golf kept growing after the Tillinghast-era courses opened in the 1930s, and the state added the Yellow in 1958. Alfred Tull built most of it from scratch, but some holes are older: holdovers that survived when Tillinghast's original Blue Course was rerouted. Every round at Bethpage, on all five courses, starts from the same clubhouse, and about 300,000 rounds a year go through it.

The rate card dated February 2025 has 18 holes on the Yellow at $38 on weekdays and $43 on weekends, with no residency surcharge. That rule applies only on the Black and the Red.

It's one of 6 courses in Farmingdale on Yoink, and Bethpage Green is practically next door — handy when your first choice is booked solid.
