About Bethpage Blue
The Blue is a round of two halves. The front nine climbs over some of the hilliest ground in Bethpage, with a run of blind shots to landing areas you can't see and greens set up above you. At the turn it flattens out, and the back nine is shorter and a lot easier. Carts are allowed, and State Parks keeps the Blue open year round, weather permitting, so it's one of the two you can play in winter.
It opened in 1935 with the Red, a year before the Black. State Parks and the course site credit A.W. Tillinghast, who was hired when the Bethpage Park Authority bought the old Lenox Hills Country Club in the early 1930s. As with the Black, the credit is argued: Wikipedia gives the Blue and Red to park superintendent Joseph Burbeck. Today's Blue isn't quite the original, either. It was rerouted, and some of the leftover holes went into Alfred Tull's Yellow in 1958.
Wikipedia's list of the five in order of difficulty puts the Blue in the middle, behind the Red and the Black. The rate card dated February 2025 has 18 holes at $38 on weekdays and $43 on weekends, with no residency surcharge.

Tee times go through the State Parks online reservation system, the only way to book at Bethpage. Verified New York residents can book seven days out and everyone else five, and the sheet opens at 7 pm. To get verified, email a photo of your NYS driver license or DMV non-driver ID or show it in person. Same-day times can be booked online up to 3 hours ahead, each player pays a $5 booking fee, and since May 1, 2025, more than six cancellations in a month gets your account locked for a while.
