About Bethpage Green

The Green was here before the park. It started as the Lenox Hills Country Club, built on land the Yoakum family leased out (Wikipedia credits the original design to Devereux Emmet). When the Bethpage Park Authority bought the club in the early 1930s, A.W. Tillinghast reworked it while he built the Black, Red and Blue, and it became the Green Course.

Some people call it a mini Black, and the course site says that's mostly about the ground: both sit in the hills east of Round Swamp Road. Otherwise they're different animals. The Green is 6,378 yards from the tips, nearly 1,100 shorter than the Black, and GOLF.com puts it with the Yellow as the two easiest at Bethpage and the best set up for a casual round. You can take a cart.

In 2026 State Parks listed it open March 14 to November 29, weather permitting. The rate card dated February 2025 has 18 holes at $38 on weekdays and $43 on weekends, with no residency surcharge.

Booking a tee time at Bethpage Green

Tee times go through the State Parks online reservation system, the only way to book at Bethpage. Verified New York residents can book seven days out and everyone else five, and the sheet opens at 7 pm. To get verified, email a photo of your NYS driver license or DMV non-driver ID or show it in person. Same-day times can be booked online up to 3 hours ahead, each player pays a $5 booking fee, and since May 1, 2025, more than six cancellations in a month gets your account locked for a while.
