About Eagle Ridge Golf Club
Eagle Ridge sits in the pines of northern Ocean County on ground that used to be a sand and gravel quarry, the one that supplied the Garden State Parkway in the late 1940s and early 1950s. Digging left bluffs, cliffs and ridges, so you get the kind of elevation change you don't expect this close to the shore, and the club likes to say it feels like the Carolinas. The Kokes family opened the first 18 in June 1999, designed by Brian Ault.
It's 27 holes: the original Ridge and Pines nines, plus a Links nine Ault added next door on land that was once an ultralight airport and the Lakewood municipal landfill, closed in the early 1980s. On the Ridge, the 9th is a short par 4 that tempts you to drive the green, though the smart play is a layup and a wedge to a well-guarded, sloping green.
Golf Advisor's Golfers' Choice list put it among the best in New Jersey every year from 2014 through 2020, as high as 4th.
