Phoenix & Scottsdale Golf Courses & Tee Times
Golf in the Valley runs on the calendar. The WM Phoenix Open has been played on the Stadium Course at TPC Scottsdale since 1987, a Jay Morrish and Tom Weiskopf layout that opened in 1986 on city parcels and federal Bureau of Reclamation land north of the CAP canal. The tournament itself goes back to 1932, and in 2016 it drew 618,365 fans for the week. Most of them come for the par-3 16th, closed in by a temporary 20,000-seat grandstand. Away from the TV holes, the City of Phoenix runs a busy public program with courses dating to 1935, and every fall each course shuts for two to three weeks to overseed.

Who runs public golf in Phoenix & Scottsdale
The City of Phoenix has five 18-hole and three 9-hole courses. It runs Aguila, Cave Creek, Encanto and Palo Verde itself, and Papago and GCU are partner courses. Encanto, a William P. Bell design from 1935, is the third oldest course in Arizona, the city says. Cave Creek, in north Phoenix and not the town of that name, was built on a reclaimed landfill in 1983 and the city calls it its most popular course. The Phoenix Golf Premium card is for Maricopa County residents, with a senior version at 62; it costs $60 the first year and works at every city course, Papago and GCU included. Golfers from outside the county can buy a $120 card. Kids 17 and under pay $30 a year for a junior pass and $5 a round at the four city-run courses, stand-by only.

Booking tee times in Phoenix & Scottsdale: the local rules
Phoenix card holders can book nine days out, and 10 to 14 days online for a convenience fee when times are available. Call 602-534-GOLF or book online by course, and cancel at least 24 hours ahead or pay a $20 no-show fee. The public rate is higher: at Aguila in the fall 2026 shoulder season it was $39 on weekdays before 2pm against $34 with a card. Plan around maintenance. Each course closes for two summer aerations, and in 2026 the fall overseeding runs from October 5 to November 3, about two weeks per course. Check with the course, since the city says dates can change.

What we've seen on tee sheets in Phoenix & Scottsdale
From the tee sheets Yoink has been reading. Booking window is how far ahead each new day's tee times appear online. Green fees are the range most 18-hole tee times were listed at. Each course page says when and how often we looked. Courses without enough data aren't shown, and residents or members may have different windows and rates.
| Course | Booking window | Green fees (18) |
|---|---|---|
| The Stadium Course at TPC Scottsdale | – | $199 to $319 |
| TPC Scottsdale - Champions Course | – | $129 to $258 |
Why tee times in Phoenix & Scottsdale are hard to get
Golf in Phoenix & Scottsdale peaks in winter, when seasonal residents and visitors arrive. From roughly November through April, weekend mornings are the hardest times on the sheet to get, and even weekdays fill up.
Each course releases its tee times on its own schedule, commonly a week or two out, with residents of town and county courses often booking first. Leagues, outings and members claim chunks of the sheet in advance, and whatever prime weekend times are left tend to go on release day.
When tee time cancellations happen
Booked-up doesn't mean gone. Plans change: groups cancel ahead of the course's cancellation deadline (often 24 to 48 hours out), players drop when the forecast turns, and a group that shrinks leaves an open spot. Those times quietly come back on the booking page, usually for minutes, not hours.
How to get a tee time in Phoenix & Scottsdale
Yoink
Every course in Phoenix & Scottsdale on one watchlist: all 142 of them
Yoink watches all 142 courses in Phoenix & Scottsdale for you. The open tee times sit in one place instead of a dozen booking pages, and your phone buzzes the moment one fits your day, time window and group, cancellations included.
Doing it by hand? Here's what works.
- Know the booking window. Find out how many days ahead each course releases times, and whether residents get an earlier window. Be ready the morning it opens.
- Look again 24 to 48 hours out. That's when most cancellation deadlines pass and spots come back.
- Be flexible on group size. Singles and twosomes fit into gaps a foursome can't.
- Try twilight and weekday afternoons. They're the last to fill and often cheaper.
- Keep a quicker course in your back pocket. Nine-hole and executive courses are easier to get on and play faster. Around here that includes Bear Creek GC - Cub Course, Bellair Golf Park and Continental Golf Course.
