About TPC Scottsdale - Champions Course

The Champions Course is the other 18 at TPC Scottsdale, the PGA Tour club whose Stadium Course hosts the WM Phoenix Open. It sits on the old Desert Course site, which Randy Heckenkemper completely rebuilt in 2007 to follow the natural ravines and foothills of the Sonoran Desert, with the McDowell Mountains in view.

The design idea is choice: holes can be played several ways, so it doesn't favor one type of player, and it closes with a four-hole stretch the club is proud of. From the Black tees it's 7,115 yards (73.2 rating, 135 slope), and there are seven tee options down to 5,342 yards from the Reds, including combo sets, so there's a sensible number for everyone. The course is watered with recycled water.

TPC Scottsdale was the sixth club in the TPC network. It sits on City of Scottsdale and Bureau of Reclamation land north of the Central Arizona Project canal, and the club pitches both courses to everyday golfers who want a day in the life of a Tour player.

It's one of 20 courses in Scottsdale on Yoink, and The Stadium Course at TPC Scottsdale is practically next door — handy when your first choice is booked solid.
