About Encanto Golf Course
Encanto is Phoenix's old city course, built in 1935 to a William P. Bell design in the middle of the historic district, and the city calls it the third oldest golf course in Arizona. It sits in Encanto Park, 222 acres of green in the middle of town, with views of downtown Phoenix.
It's a relaxed round: wide, level fairways and not many hazards, which is why the city pitches it at the average golfer. It's a good place to take a newer player, or to get a quick, low-stress 18 in close to downtown. There's a driving range, practice green and short-game area, and The Encanto Tavern for after.
