About Forest Park Golf Course
Forest Park is the city course tucked into the woods of Forest Park, just off the Jackie Robinson Parkway. It's tree-lined, the greens sit up above the fairways, and three holes bring water into play. Stephen Kay redesigned it in 1995 with about $2 million of work and a brand-new clubhouse, and the renovation lengthened it to a little over 6,000 yards.
It's one of the city's oldest courses. NYC Parks says Forest Park Golf Links opened in 1901 as a nine and was 18 holes by 1905, on 110 acres. The old clubhouse still stands: Oak Ridge, a Dutch Colonial building from 1905 by Helmle, Huberty & Hudswell, the firm behind Brooklyn's Williamsburgh Savings Bank tower, now houses the park's staff. Golf NYC runs the course for the city.
It's one of 14 courses Yoink watches in the New York City area, and the closest alternative is Kissena Park Golf Course, about 6 miles away — handy when your first choice is booked solid.
