Maine Golf Courses & Tee Times
The Maine State Golf Association formed in 1917 at Portland Country Club, when Maine was the only New England state without one. It started with eight clubs and now, as Maine Golf, counts more than 120 clubs and 19,500 members. It also runs the Maine Open, played every year since 1918.

Getting a tee time in Maine
The season in Maine is short, running roughly from late spring into fall, so every good weekend in that window is contested. The first warm Saturdays of the year are the hardest tee times to get.
Most public courses open their tee sheet a set number of days ahead, often 7 to 14, and many municipal courses give residents or card holders an earlier window. The best weekend-morning times usually go the day they're released. Leagues and outings take blocks of the sheet before the public ever sees them.
Booked-up doesn't mean gone. Plans change: groups cancel ahead of the course's cancellation deadline (often 24 to 48 hours out), players drop when the forecast turns, and a group that shrinks leaves an open spot. Those times quietly come back on the booking page, usually for minutes, not hours.
