About Calusa 12 Hole
This is Calusa Country Club's 12-hole Green Course, a par 48 by Gordon Lewis, who also built the club's 18. It's a 'social golf' idea: a real mix of par 3s, 4s and 5s that you can get around a lot faster than a full round, not a pitch-and-putt.
Lewis has two favorites. The 2nd is a cape hole, a par 5 of up to 549 yards where you decide how much of the corner to bite off from the tee. The 8th is the little one, a par 3 of 84 to 112 yards played from a tee 200 feet wide, so the angle changes every day, into a shallow green that asks for touch. Three short par 4s, the 1st, 5th and 12th, give you chances to have a go.
Troon's ICON Management runs the club in Lennar's Calusa community. Around the courses there's an aqua driving range, a short-game area and a putting course of nearly an acre with a snack bar and fire pit.
