About Emerald Valley Golf and Resort

Emerald Valley sits on 170 acres along the Coast Fork of the Willamette River, on flat land that used to be a dairy farm. It's a tree-lined course with meandering doglegs and fast greens, par 72 and 7,143 yards from the Gold tees down to 5,421 from the front. The course calls itself one of the driest in the valley and plays year-round.

Bob Baldock laid it out in 1966. The first nine opened in 1967, in a clubhouse made from the old dairy barn, and the second in 1968, which made it the Eugene area's first regulation-length public course. Dan Hixon, a Portland designer, reworked parts of it in 2002, when a new owner also added a driving range and practice ground; new irrigation followed in 2005.

It's the home course of the Oregon Ducks, who got their own facility there in 2023, and it has hosted several U.S. Open and U.S. Amateur qualifiers. The Oregon Golf Association named it Golf Course of the Year for 2004, and Oregon Business ranked it No. 1 of 71 Oregon courses from the back tees in October 2005.
