About Pronghorn Club - Nicklaus Signature Course
This is Jack Nicklaus's only Signature course in Oregon, set in a juniper forest in the high desert east of the Cascades, and the resort calls it the original desert-style course in the Northwest. The holes sit low on the land and slide through washes of sand, native grass, low pines and old lava rock. Golf Digest wrote that the back nine, carved from a flow of volcanic rock, may be the most delightful Jack has ever designed.
It's a par 72 that stretches to more than 7,300 yards from the tips, with five sets of tees, so it plays long or short depending on where you tee it up. Pronghorn opened in 2004 as a strictly private club, and Golf Digest ranked the Nicklaus course No. 2 among America's Best New Private Courses after its 2004 debut. Tom Fazio's members-only second 18 followed three years later. The club later opened the Nicklaus course to public play, and the resort is now called Juniper Preserve. Golf Digest had it 42nd on America's 100 Greatest Public Courses for 2023-24 and 8th in Oregon, and Golfweek ranked it 90th on its 2025 Top 200 US Resort Courses.
