Maple Moor Golf Course

Tom Winton's county course on the old Griffen family farm, named for its maples. The county took it over in 1925 and finished it by 1927.

About Maple Moor Golf Course

Maple Moor sits on what was the Griffen family farm. Howard J. Griffen settled it in 1879 and put up a cider mill and a four-story barn, and his son went on to be mayor of White Plains. There was already a nine-hole course on the land when the Westchester County Parks Commission bought it in 1925; Tom Winton designed the course, and all 18 holes were open by the end of 1927. The name comes from the maple trees on the land.

It's a par 71 of 6,374 yards on 140 acres, rated 71 with a 129 slope, so it plays close to its number. The county recently redid the bunkers, cart paths, irrigation and drainage, adding retention ponds as part of the work. The North Street Tavern is on site for after.

It's one of 20 courses Yoink watches in the Westchester & Hudson Valley area, and the closest alternative is Saxon Woods Golf Course, about 4 miles away — handy when your first choice is booked solid.
