This is the Mescalero Apache Tribe's resort course, a Ted Robinson design in tall pines under Sierra Blanca. Much of it climbs into the hills, with pine forest between the fairways, and it comes back down to Mescalero Lake at the end. The greens are quick. Local guides mention elk that sometimes stop play.
The hole people talk about is the 10th, a par 4 with an island fairway. You can lay up about 180 yards to the island, or try the 280-yard carry across the lake toward the green.
