About William F. Larkin Golf Course at Colonial Terrace

Colonial Terrace goes back to 1920, and for most of its life it was somebody else's course. The Township of Ocean bought the site, brought it back, and opened it to the public in May 2008. In June 2016 it took the name of William F. Larkin, the former mayor who led the push to make it a public course.

It's a regulation nine that the township lists at 2,532 yards and par 33 from the back. Golf blogger Orson Rosas, who played it in 2022 before the latest course map was posted, described it as flat and mostly open, with bail-out room even on the perimeter holes and small greens that test your approach play. There are walking rates, so carry your bag. In GolfPass's 2022 Golfers' Choice survey it made the top 25 short courses in the country and the top 20 public-access courses in New Jersey.

The township also runs The 10th Hole, an indoor golf facility that's open all year, and offers lessons with Coach Rob Connelley. Kids can play from age 7, with an adult along until 11.
