Who runs public golf in North Platte & Western Nebraska

Towns run much of the golf here. The City of Gering lists Monument Shadows among its parks and recreation facilities, and the course hosts league play, open play and tournaments. North Platte opened its own city course, Iron Eagle, in June 1994, but South Platte floods in 1995, 1997, 2013 and 2015 put holes underwater. A Chief Development affiliate bought it for $10,000 in May 2021 and later said reopening it for golf was not economically feasible. North Platte golfers now play Rivers Edge, an 18-hole course open to the public on the North Platte River, and Lake Maloney, which NebGolf lists as semi-private.
