About Legend Buttes Golf Course
Legend Buttes is a nine-hole, par-36 course of 3,178 yards (35.2 rating, 125 slope) on Highway 20 west of town, between Crawford and Fort Robinson, right under the Red Cloud Buttes. You get the view of the buttes from the 1st tee. The White River winds through the property, and the fairways are tree-lined and edged with wildflowers and prairie grass. Longhorn cattle sometimes show up at the edge of the course by the 2nd and 3rd.
The city's description is honest about how it plays: the first three holes are fairly simple, and the 4th is where it tightens up. The 5th is the hard one, from a hillside tee with water right and brush and trees left, so hit it straight. You cross the White River again on 6 through 8, and the 9th gives a long hitter a chance to get home in two, with the clubhouse waiting across the pond.
