Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw designed Warren as a links-style course on 250 acres of woods, and it plays like one: fescue fairways, softly rolling ground, and red fescue, heather and native grasses along the edges, trimmed back to keep it playable. The course says the model was the classic walkable Irish and American courses of the late 1800s and early 1900s, with short hops from green to next tee, so it's a good one to walk. The Golden Dome sits in the background, and the property is Audubon International certified.

It's a par 71 (35 out, 36 in) with four sets of tees: 7,020 yards from the championship tees (74.6 rating, 135 slope), then 6,744, 6,346 and 5,302. There's a big jump between the middle and forward tees, so pick the set that fits your game rather than the one your group defaults to.

The name honors William K. and Natalie O. Warren, the parents of William K. Warren Jr., a 1956 Notre Dame graduate whose gift built the course and who has paid for improvements since. It has hosted plenty of big golf. The 2010 U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links ended with Emily Tubert beating Lisa McCloskey 3 and 2, and in 2019 it became the first collegiate course to host a U.S. Senior Open. It has also held U.S. Open qualifiers (2009, 2010), several U.S. Amateur qualifiers and NCAA Division I regionals.

Booking a tee time at Warren Golf Course at Notre Dame

Tee times open 14 days ahead. Book online through the course website or call the Golf Shop at 574-631-4653, and if nothing shows up, join the course's virtual waitlist, which texts or emails you when a time opens. 2026 public rates for 18 are $75 walking and $100 with a cart Monday to Thursday, $85 and $120 Friday to Sunday, $65 and $75 after 3 p.m., and $45 and $60 after 5 p.m. Notre Dame students, staff and alumni pay less. On home football Fridays and Saturdays everyone pays $140, which includes the cart and a small bucket of range balls.
