About Mountain View Golf Course At Callaway Gardens

Mountain View is the tour course at Callaway Gardens. From 1991 to 2002 it hosted the PGA Tour's fall stop, best known as the Buick Challenge, and the winners list is strong: Davis Love III in 1997, David Toms in 1999, David Duval in 2000. In 2001 Chris DiMarco beat Duval, the defending champion, in a playoff, and in 2002 Jonathan Byrd shot 63 in the final round to win the last one. The event had five-man playoffs in 1993 and 1996.

Buick dropped its sponsorship in 2001, citing low attendance and thin TV coverage, and the tournament ended the next year. The course stayed. It's a tree-lined parkland layout on the resort grounds, and it's open to resort guests and visitors alike. In 2022 Herschend Family Entertainment agreed to buy the resort's golf courses, lodge and other revenue-producing assets from the Ida Cason Callaway Foundation.
