About The Club at Eaglebrooke
Eaglebrooke doesn't look like central Florida golf. Ron Garl designed it as a links-style course, and it opened in 1996 on ground with more than 100 feet of elevation change, which the club rightly says is unusual in this part of the state. Undulating fairways run past bunkers and natural lakes, which come into play on 11 holes, to multi-level greens, so the approach and the putt both need thought.
It's a par 72 at 6,917 yards from the Black tees (73.7 rating, 138 slope) and plays all the way down to about 3,500 from the front. Garl built the senior tees after asking Senior Golf Magazine to survey seniors about what they wanted. The club also says it was the first course in the US to use Greg Norman's GN 1 grass. It's semi-private, and they'll take your bag at the car.
It's one of 4 courses in Lakeland on Yoink, and the closest alternative is Sanlan RV & Golf Resort, about 4 miles away — handy when your first choice is booked solid.
