About Schalamar Creek Golf Club

Schalamar Creek is a Ron Garl course inside a 55+ community, and it's open to the public. The front nine is the tight one, with tree-lined fairways, and the greens across the course are small but receptive, so you're aiming at targets rather than bailing out to fat middles.

The hole people remember is 13, the club's signature, with water in front, left and behind the green. The other one is the finish. Holes 9 and 18 share a double green, so both nines end on the same putting surface. The course sits beside 750-acre Saddle Creek Park, which gives it a quiet, wooded feel.

There's a PGA teaching pro, a full golf shop, and a bar and restaurant for after the round. Membership is open to non-residents too.

It's one of 116 courses Yoink watches in the Tampa Bay area, and the closest alternative is Hamptons Golf Club, about 1 mile away — handy when your first choice is booked solid.
