About Seminole Lake Country Club
Seminole Lake sits on the banks of Long Bayou and Cross Bayou, and it plays like an old Florida club: wide fairways, big greens with real contour, and a lot of holes that turn. The map survey counts nine doglegs (six of them bending left), 15 tree-lined holes, 45 bunkers and water on three holes. Course character from OpenStreetMap contributors' survey data.
The grass is the other thing people notice. Tees, fairways and greens are all paspalum, which the club says plays more like a northern grass than the usual Florida Bermuda, and the greens were redone in Platinum Paspalum.
The land was Pine Ridge Farm, a cattle ranch the Cunningham family bought in the early 1930s; the remains of the family cabin still sit just west of the clubhouse. A developer talked the three Cunningham brothers into building a club, it opened in 1962, and Arnold Palmer played an exhibition round shortly after. It stayed private for about four decades, got a clubhouse renovation in 2002 and a golf course redo in 2007 (all greens resurfaced, bunkers refurbished, a full practice facility added), then went semi-private in 2009. The Cunninghams still own it.
