Cabot Citrus Farms - Roost

Fazio's old Rolling Oaks, reworked by four designers: 50-foot swings in elevation, moss-draped oaks, and a short par 3 over a 40-foot-deep sinkhole.

About Cabot Citrus Farms - Roost

Roost sits on the old Rolling Oaks course at World Woods and was built by an unusual committee: Mike Nuzzo took the lead, Kyle Franz (who did Karoo next door) consulted, Rod Whitman shaped the greens, and Ran Morrissett advised on the architecture. It's 7,543 yards and a different animal from Karoo: the first few holes are sandy, then it moves into rolling meadows and live oaks hung with moss.

The ground is the story. The course has repeated 50-foot elevation changes, which is rare in Florida, and a 40-foot-deep sinkhole that the shortest par 3 plays straight over. The 12th has no bunkers at all and bends right through a corridor of live oaks to a raised, roly-poly green. There are six split fairways, and the 7th fairway is 140 yards wide and shared with the 16th. Wild Osceola turkeys roost in the oaks, which is where the name comes from.

Cabot's site lists Roost 3rd among the Best New Public Courses of 2025 and says it was named Best New Public Course in a set of 2025 golf course awards. It's built for walking, push carts are free, and a forecaddie is required with a cart from December through March.
