Brooksville Country Club

Bobby Weed's back nine drops into an old limestone quarry, and Golf Digest named its 17th one of the 18 best U.S. holes built since 2000 (2020 list).

About Brooksville Country Club

Brooksville starts gently and then gets serious. The front nine is William Mitchell's original 1971 layout, tree-lined with deep rough and very little water. The back nine is Bobby Weed's, and it's where the four quarry holes are, built in a former mining pit during a $2 million overhaul that was mostly finished by the fall of 2003.

The quarry is why people drive up here. In 2010 Golf Digest put the 12th, which has a high fairway and a low one, on its list of the 19 most fun holes in the country, and in 2020 it named the par-3 17th one of the 18 best holes built in the U.S. since 2000. It plays 6,812 yards to a par of 72, and every hole has a name, from 'In the Beginning' on the 1st to 'Amen' on the 18th.

The clubhouse opened on April 18, 1971, with 425 members. It's semi-private, and it's been through several owners since; American Collegiate Academy has owned it since at least 2022.

It's one of 3 courses in Brooksville on Yoink, and the closest alternative is Hernando Oaks Golf and Country Club, about 7 miles away — handy when your first choice is booked solid.
