About Disney's Magnolia Golf Course
Magnolia is the long one at Walt Disney World, built in a classic Tour style and named for its magnolia trees: 7,505 yards from the back (a 76.6 rating), with sets at 6,965, 6,574, 6,146 and 5,200. The fairways are wide and the tees are elevated, so you can swing away, but 11 of the 18 holes have water and there are dozens of bunkers. The map survey counts 62 of them, and the whole property rises and falls only about 10 feet, so the challenge is carry and angles, not slopes. The course was reworked in 2023 with new tees, redesigned greenside and fairway bunkers and re-contoured Bermuda greens. The big change is Grumpy's Gauntlet, the hard stretch from 14 through 17. Every hole now has a Disney film name and a quote from Walt Disney or Arnold Palmer. It's certified as an Audubon Cooperative Wildlife Sanctuary.
Walt Disney World golf opened in 1971, and Jack Nicklaus won the first Disney tour event that year and the next two. A 20-year-old Tiger Woods won the event in 1996 for his second PGA Tour win and won it again in 1999. The tour's last stop at Disney was in 2012. The Champions Room in Magnolia's clubhouse has a plaque for every winner.
It's one of 3 courses in Lake Buena Vista on Yoink, and Disney's Oak Trail Golf Course is practically next door — handy when your first choice is booked solid.
