About Bear Mountain Ranch
Bear Mountain Ranch opened in 2005 and spreads over 350 acres of rolling terrain and natural plateaus, with 700 feet of elevation gain, so the views open up as you go. Deer and other wildlife wander the course often enough that the club mentions it.
It's a par 72 that goes to 7,231 yards from the blacks (74.6 rating, 140 slope), and the 18th is a 680-yard par 5 from back there. That's a lot of golf, but there are five sets of tees on every hole: 6,761 from the blues and 6,249 from the whites, down to 5,043 at the front. The greens are bent and poa, the fairways rye. Carts have GPS, and the club aims for rounds of four and a half hours or less.
The season runs April through October. There's a cafe open 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, and it's soft spikes only, with no outside coolers or alcohol.
It's one of 2 courses in Chelan on Yoink, and Lake Chelan Golf Course is practically next door — handy when your first choice is booked solid.
