About Pecan Valley Golf Course
Pecan Valley is the City of Fort Worth's 36-hole spread: two 18s with the Clear Fork of the Trinity River running between them. Ralph Plummer designed the original in 1963. The River Course is the older one: it runs along the water, plays a bit shorter and flatter than its neighbor, and the city calls it one of the better municipal courses in Texas. From the blue tees it's 6,600 yards, about 6,100 from the whites and just under 5,600 from the reds.
The Hills Course got its back nine from Dave Bennett in 1982 and plays about 150 yards shorter than the River. The city has planted several hundred trees there that are only now starting to fill in.
One thing to know before you tee off on the River: the bridge between 15 and 18 is out, so for now 15 plays as a par 3 and 18 as a par 5. As of September 2026 the replacement was out to bid, with construction expected to finish in summer 2027. The Grill at Pecan Valley does breakfast and a daily menu.
