About Percy Warner Golf Course
Percy Warner sits in the hills of Percy Warner Park, and it's short: par 34 at 2,600 yards. The trees and the greens are what keep it honest. Fairways are tree-lined, and the greens are small and undulating, so the scoring shots matter more than the tee shots. It's walking only; riding carts are reserved for players with a verified disability, so plan to carry or bring a pull cart.
It opened in 1937 and is Nashville's second-oldest public course. The Friends of Warner Parks credit it with introducing more people to golf than any other course in town, Brandt Snedeker among them, and it has averaged close to 27,000 rounds a year.
The course closed in November 2022 for a 20-month restoration led by architect Bruce Hepner, paid for with $2.5 million in private gifts through Metro Parks, the Friends of Warner Parks and the Tennessee Golf Foundation. The old 1937 double greens, a summer green and a winter green on each hole, gave way to a single green complex per hole. It also got new irrigation to replace a galvanized system more than 50 years old, bigger and flatter tees, rebuilt bunkers and a new practice area with putting greens, a short-game area and practice bunkers. Jim Nantz emceed the ribbon cutting, and it reopened for public play on June 30, 2024.
It's one of 39 courses Yoink watches in the Nashville area, and the closest alternative is Harpeth Hills Golf Course, about 2 miles away — handy when your first choice is booked solid.
