About McCabe Golf Course - Middle-South
McCabe is Metro Nashville's 27-hole course a few minutes from downtown, and Middle-South is one of its three 18-hole pairings. From the blue tees it's 5,938 yards and par 70 (the Middle nine is 2,980 yards, the South 2,958, both par 35), with a 68.1 rating and 111 slope, the easiest of the three combinations on the card. It's short, and Metro describes the original holes as large, tree-lined fairways with sand bunkers, so position matters more than power.
The original 18 holes date to 1942, and a third nine came several years later. A major renovation in May 2007 rebuilt the greens and tees and put in double-row irrigation, and the North nine was redesigned then to make room for a driving range. The range opened in March 2012 with 27 stations on a two-level tee, grass from mid-April to mid-November and turf mats in winter.
It's a regulars' course. Five golf associations call it home, from the Capital City Golf Association and the Sweathogs to the Metro Seniors, the Town and Country women's 18-hole group and the NWSGA ladies' nine-holers, and the Nashville Scene voted it the best place to play in 2014.
It's one of 39 courses Yoink watches in the Nashville area, and the closest alternative is Ted Rhodes Golf Course, about 2 miles away — handy when your first choice is booked solid.
