About Linrick Golf Course

LinRick is Richland County's course, and a South Carolina tourism article from about 2012 called it the Columbia area's only municipal course. It opened in 1972, and the same article said it ran without tax dollars. It's a Russell Breeden design on 257 acres of rolling hills, and it plays 6,941 yards to a par of 73 by the course's own numbers.

Plan on hills and water. There are eight ponds, water is in play on five holes, and several shots are blind: the water-guarded par-4 3rd, the roller-coaster par-5 14th and the par-3 17th, which plays straight uphill. The closing stretch is the part people talk about. The 16th is a double-dogleg par 5 to a green ringed by water, and the course itself says even a low handicapper should be happy with par there.

Walkers are welcome. If you ride, carts stay on the paths where the signs say so, with the 90-degree rule where paths run the length of the hole, and the course asks you to finish 18 in four and a half hours or less.
