About Oak Hollow Golf Course
Oak Hollow is the City of High Point's Pete Dye course, opened in 1972, and it has the Dye look you'd recognize from his famous courses. He and his wife Alice had toured Scotland's classic courses for a month in 1963 and came home taken with railroad ties holding up bunker faces, tiny pot bunkers and small greens. You get all of that here: railroad ties, pot bunkers, peninsula greens and an island tee.
The greens are the thing. The course calls its small, undulating greens its best-known trademark, so the round comes down to approach shots that find the right part of a small target. After it opened in 1972, the city says, it quickly became one of the top-ranked courses in the country.
