About Blair Park Golf Course

Blair Park is the older of High Point's two city-owned courses, on land that descendants of Solomon Blair gave to the city. It opened as nine holes in 1931 and became 18 when a second nine went in during the mid-1940s. Sam Snead came through for an exhibition round in 1948, and it has hosted local championships and the High Point Golf Championships over the years.

Water is the main defense. Creeks cross the property and come into play on more than half the holes, and the local rules treat all of it as lateral hazard. The bunkering is modest, so the creeks are what you plan around. It's a par 72 of 6,449 yards from the back tees (37 out, 35 in), 6,009 from the men's tees and 5,110 from the forward tees, so length isn't the issue; keeping it dry is.
