Red Hawk sits at the base of the Organ Mountains, a public course that opened in November 2011 after a couple of years of delays. Ken Dye of Houston's Finger/Dye/Spann designed it, and the club describes it as a mix of links-style and prairie dune features. It stretches 7,523 yards from the tips, and Golf Digest voted it one of the top-10 courses in New Mexico in 2013.

The course has been changing. A bunker redesign with Caliper Construction took it from 71 bunkers down to 46, rebuilt with the Billy Bunker system for better drainage, and out-of-play turf is being swapped for xeriscape desert landscaping to save water. A new clubhouse with event space for more than 250 people has gone up as well.

Booking a tee time at Red Hawk Golf Club

You need a credit card to reserve a tee time, and you're charged the full rate if you cancel less than 24 hours ahead or don't show. There are no senior, military or student rates, but the free Fairway Finders Pass earns points you can spend here or at Sonoma Ranch. The range stays open until 7 p.m. or sunset for range pass holders.
