About Princeton Country Club

Princeton Country Club has been a Mercer County course since 1965, when it became part of the Park Commission. It's the short one in the county's lineup, a par 70 of 6,005 yards from the blue tees (68.5 rating, 124 slope) and 5,765 from the whites, and the county is upfront that length isn't the test: the defense is tight, tree-lined fairways and small greens that slope from back to front. Their words: accuracy over distance, plus a keen short game.

There are only two par 5s, the 515-yard 2nd and the 520-yard 17th, so most of the round is par 4s where you're choosing a club to find the fairway, then keeping the approach below the hole. The course got new irrigation and new bunkers in 2014, and the clubhouse was renovated in 2015.

It's also the county's practice hub. There's a full driving range and putting green, and the clubhouse's second floor holds the Mercer County Golf Academy, a 6,000-square-foot indoor facility with three simulators and an indoor putting green. Apron, the restaurant, is open to the public daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Like the other county courses, if you stop for lunch at the turn you lose your place and have to check back in with the starter.
