About King Ranch Golf Course
King Ranch sits on the banks of the Clark Fork River, ten minutes west of Missoula off I-90 at Exit 89. The river bottom and the mountains around it are the backdrop for the whole round, and the Montana State Golf Association points out the wildlife you see along the way.
It started as one man's project. Bud King, a local construction company owner, built a golf course on land he had lived on for nearly three decades. It opened as nine holes in 1992, with King helping on the design, and nine more holes came in 1999. More recently the course built or rebuilt eleven holes and opened a new 18-hole layout, so if you last played it years ago, expect a different course.
There's a large practice area and a pro shop that gives lessons, and the kitchen is open for events and catering; call ahead for its regular hours.
