About Canyon River Golf Club

Canyon River sits in East Missoula where the Clark Fork wraps around the property, and for a Montana course it's surprisingly flat. Lee Schmidt and Brian Curley designed it as the centerpiece of a golf community, and it opened in July 2006. Five holes have open looks at the river, and the mountains frame the rest; the 12th brings the mountainside into play, a 211-yard par 3 that looks as tall as it is long.

From the back it's a real test: par 72, 6,966 yards, 73.8 rating and 146 slope, per the Montana State Golf Association. The Pacific Northwest PGA has brought its section championship here three times, in 2010 (Jeff Coston), 2015 (Tim Feenstra) and 2025 (Austin Hurt).

The practice area, with a range, chipping and bunker area and a big putting green, is open to the public every day, and the Fox Den serves breakfast, lunch and local beer on a deck that looks out over the course.
