About Meadow Lake Golf Course

Meadow Lake is the golf course at Meadow Lake Golf Resort, on the west edge of Columbia Falls, six miles east of Whitefish and about 10 minutes from Glacier Park International. It's a par 72, about 6,703 yards from the tips. On one side of the property Garnier Creek winds between and across fairways. On the other, the holes run through tight corridors of evergreens. The 7th, a winding par 5, has both.

It started as a nine-hole course in 1976, and the Flathead Beacon says it was popular right away. Another nine followed in 1985. Nobody seems to know who laid out the first holes. Dick Phelps reworked the course in the 1980s and is the architect on record. After the round, the Eagles Nest Bar and Bistro serves breakfast and lunch on the patio, and there's a golf simulator ($40 an hour) for bad-weather days.

In the shoulder season (opening day to May 10, and all of October) it drops to $50, and in July and August there's a $50 twilight rate after 5 p.m.
