About Glacier View Golf Course

Glacier View sits in a bend of the Middle Fork of the Flathead River, just outside the west entrance to Glacier National Park, with Heavens Peak and the park's other mountains in view. It's short and flat: a par 69 of 5,181 yards from the Blue tees, with only one par 5, the 485-yard 3rd. The head pro told the Hungry Horse News in 2018 that it isn't the longest or hardest course you'll find, and the flat ground makes it a good one for beginners and families.

Knutson Construction built it in 1968 on 100 acres Walter Whirry bought from Bob Kalbfleisch, to a design by Bob Baldock, and it opened to the public in 1969. The wildlife is part of the deal. Elk cross the river near the 3rd hole at night and rub on the flags, so the crew pulls them every evening, and the club sells a cap with an elk chewing a flag. The pro reported a moose in 2018, and a couple of bears come through every year.
